Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards - entry open
22 May 2008
The 2008 Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards are now open for entry. There are a broad range of categories for businesses to enter - including two new ones that have been added this year - supply chain collaboration and people development. Gary Williamson, managing director of Williamson Foodservice and title sponsor of the event, said:
"The inclusion of two new categories reflects the fact that food and drink companies need to invest in their people to continue to develop and that in these times of rising costs collaboration between firms can result in market success.”
Entry closes 21st July and the winners will be announced at an awards dinner on 26th September.

Spring Finds
29 April 2008

I've been enjoying a variety of work recently...

  • amongst my more expected assignments - developing packaging for Shitake logs and confectionary products - you might be surprised to find children's activity packs and the packaging for a patented driving aid

  • running workshops for Lochaber Larder on topics such as packaging, legal conditions and HACCP in order to help them develop their products.

  • running a hygiene course for The Highland Council Tenants group to allow them to run residents events such as barbeques and picnics. The training was held in the West End Community Centre, Alness - a great facility for trainers.

  • helping a farm near Nairn set up their own on farm meat packaging facility
